This is definitely not the Kavanaugh hearings, or frankly any sexual harassment scenario where a Republican is involved. Despite multiple females coming forward to detail their unwanted sexual encounters with Governor Cuomo, Democrats are not demanding his resignation.
Quite the opposite. Democrats, as high up the political chain as President Biden himself, support an investigation. The “always stand by the female” and “if she says she’s a victim, she’s a victim” mentality is so far out the window, Cuomo’s accusers can’t count on support from the Democratic party.
He won’t give a proper press conference or take questions from the press, but Biden spoke to ABC about Cuomo, and women should be enraged. Biden had the guts to give an exclusive interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, or as some might say, one of his public relations teams.
“I know you said you want the investigation to continue…if the investigation confirms the claims of the women, should he resign?” Stephanopoulos asked Biden. Neither the media, nor President Biden himself are demanding a resignation or hinting at believing the female until they put her through an invasive investigation for an incident in which no one else was present.
Biden answered “yes.” But added, “there should be an investigation to determine whether what she says is true.” When Stephanopoulos noted other prominent Democrats want Cuomo to resign, Biden didn’t have the courage to take a position.
“Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, the majority of the congressional delegation don’t think he can be an effective governor right now” stated Stephanopoulos. “Can he serve effectively?” He asked. “Well, that’s a judgment for them to make” stated the President.
Biden continues to say a lot without saying much at all. “A woman should be presumed telling the truth and should not be scapegoated and become victimized by her coming forward” he said. “Take a lot of courage to come forward. So, the presumption is that they should be taken seriously. And it should be investigated. And that’s what’s underway now.”
They should be taken seriously, but should be investigated, are brave for coming forward, but cannot accept what she says as true without an investigation and if he is fit to serve effectively is a judgment for others to make? So, you stand where, Mr. President?
