Elon Musk has wasted no time beginning cuts on reckless government spending, beginning with shutting down the Chief Diversity Officers Executive Council. Taking to social media, Musk displayed the quick action by posting a screenshot Monday showing the former website no longer exists, with one word: Progress.
“Before January 19, 2025” the left side of the screen reads in green letters over the official U.S. Office of Diversity Officers Executive Council which is responsible for diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility (DEIA). On the right side of the screenshot, under the words “DELETED January 20, 2025” in red was an error message saying the page was “Not Found”.
According to its website, before it was deleted, the CDOEC, part of the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM), is “the principal interagency forum to implement and sustain a national strategy for DEIA across the Federal government and position the Federal government as a model for DEIA.”
President Trump had promised to end the government’s spending of millions of dollars on DEI programs on the campaign trail. In his order, Trump asks senior officials in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the OPM to determine what programs need to be gutted.
“It asks for OMB and OPM to coordinate with the various agencies to terminate all discriminatory programs in the agencies — so that is going to include illegal DEI mandates, policies, programs, preferences and activities,” the aide said, reading allowed Executive Orders as they were signed by Trump.
Musk has declared he can confidently find $1 trillion of government spending to slash; allegedly before DOGE is anticipated to expire on July 4, 2026 — the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
