CA Teacher Goes off on Students Whose Parents Want In-Person Learning: ‘Dare Them To Come At Me’

A California teacher was caught on video going on a rant about parents who want their children to, dare we say, go back to school…in a school. In an incredibly unprofessional Zoom call with her students, the teacher said, “If your parent wants to come talk to me about how I’m not doing a good enough job in distance learning based on what you need as an individual, just dare them to come at me.”

The video of Alissa Piro of San Marcos High School’s rant was posted to Facebook. “I am so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job,” said Piro. She then compared herself to a medical professional: “I have never once gone to a doctor’s appointment and told my medical health provider how to treat me. You know why? Because I know nothing about that. I didn’t get my degree in medicine.”

Piro told her students her rant was part of her “go off period.” One of the students’ parents’ old Fox News Piro is a “bully” and “exactly what’s wrong with education.” The same parent showed the video of San Marcos High School principal Adam Dawson but says Dawson failed to follow up with regard to any corrective action.

The Daily Caller reports a group of parents is suing San Marcos and five other school districts in hopes to force them to reopen. However, parents say the district is not complying with a judge’s temporary order to lift some restrictions.

Daily Caller also reports “many teachers groups dismiss reopening arguments as steeped in ‘privilege,’ even as non-white parents advocate for their children to return to classrooms.”
