Attorney General Merrick Garland’s denials that the DOJ, FBI, and IRS did not interfere in bringing serious criminal charges against Hunter Biden is farcical.
Compelling testimony by IRS whistleblowers tell the true story. They cite specific actions taken to shutdown felony prosecutions to protect the president’s son and avoid implicating his father as complicit in his many multi-million dollar schemes to leverage Joe Biden’s power for self-enrichment.
How else do you explain an absurd plea deal to two minor tax misdemeanors in the face of clear felonious conduct that would land anyone else in prison for years? How do you rationalize a five-year investigation that completely ignored evidence of brazen corruption?
Garland’s denials are, in a word, dishonest. The IRS found that Hunter cheated the government out of more than $8 million in unreported income from his influence peddling schemes, yet most of that fraud is not charged at all. Who else but a Biden would receive such preferential treatment?
IRS supervisory officials were present during pivotal meetings when their requests for warrant-based raids on Hunter’s home at his father’s Delaware mansion and Hunter’s nearby storage unit were refused. They heard an assistant U.S. attorney say, in essence, “Yes, we have more than enough probable cause to do it, but we won’t because the optics would be bad.” Garland’s Department of Justice didn’t care about the optics when they raided Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago.
Garland also insists that two Biden-appointed U.S. Attorneys in California and Washington DC did not halt Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss’s requests to charge Hunter with felonies in those venues outside his jurisdiction. But the AG wasn’t there when it happened. The IRS agents were. They watched and listened in disbelief as it unfolded before them during a critical meeting.
According to whistleblower Gary Shapley, “Weiss surprised us by telling us on the charges: ‘I’m not the deciding official on whether charges are filed.’” In other words, everything ran through Garland’s DOJ, and felony charges were nixed by Joe Biden’s hand-picked U.S. Attorneys outside of Delaware where many of Hunter’s tax crimes took place.
What is so troubling about the sweetheart plea deal is that Hunter’s larger crimes were either ignored or buried. His vast influence peddling schemes overseas constitute a myriad of crimes under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). His laptop and other testimony makes it clear that he was selling access to his father and promises of influence on foreign policy decisions. The Bidens proved that selling out your country can be immensely lucrative.
The evidence of bribery, fraud and money laundering is overwhelming. Tens of millions were cleansed through a complex web of shell companies and then funneled into Biden bank accounts from the same countries over which Joe Biden exerted influence. These pay-to-play schemes are a smorgasbord of felonies.
Hunter acted as a foreign agent while his dad was vice president. Yet, not a single charge has been brought under FARA, which would make all of his transactions illegal. All the while, Garland blocked the appointment of a special counsel that is required under federal regulations.
This makes a mockery of the rule of law and has destroyed trust in our justice system. Garland is to blame for that. It appears that he deceived congress in his testimony and actively obstructed the investigation to benefit his boss and son. He should resign in disgrace or face impeachment.
In the meantime, the House Oversight Committee is the last refuge for anything resembling justice. It cannot prosecute, but it can expose. Members should continue to uncover the truth so that the American public can decide whether the incumbent president running for re-election is a crook surrounded by family members who are profiting from his public office.
The encrypted message from Hunter to a Chinese Communist Party official is damning evidence of extortion and bribery —pay us the money or my father will come after you with a vengeance. Even if Joe wasn’t sitting next to his son when the message was sent, it serves as a window into the family’s graft.
Biden’s presidency is infected with scam artists and grifters within his own family. As if that is not bad enough, there is persuasive evidence that “the Big Guy” was an active participant and beneficiary.
