In 2016 Jalina Porter wrote on Facebook a very pointed and dangerous statement: “The largest threat to U.S. national security are U.S. cops” she wrote. “Not ISIS, not Russian hackers, not anyone or anything else” added Porter. The significance of this post? Porter has been named deputy spokesperson for the U.S. State Department under President Joe Biden.
Claiming cops aide in “genocide against blacks,” Porter wrote: “If ya’ll don’t wake up and rise up to this truth the genocide against Blacks in America will continue until we are near extinct.” According to the Washington Free Beacon, Porter’s Facebook comments were made in September 2016 following the release of a video showing an unarmed Black man, Terence Crutcher, shot by police in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
“An unarmed Black man takes a knee for justice, bigots riot. An unarmed Black man (with his hands raised) takes a bullet and dies, those same bigots are silent. Explain this to me, please” wrote Porter. After the mention of genocide against Blacks in America, Porter stated, “I am calling out the majority because this means you need to take action…in your communities, churches, classrooms, and with your Members of Congress. We can’t do this alone.”
Porter has worked for the nonprofit national security and foreign policy think tank, Truman National Security Project. The Truman National Security Project is not only left leaning, but also previously employed the President’s son, Hunter Biden. Porter also has a history in politics, serving as a congressional staff member for California Democrat Rep. Jerry McNerney, and former Democratic Rep. Cedric Richmond of Louisiana. Richmond is now a White House senior adviser.
A spokesperson for the State Department did not respond to multiple Free Beacon requests for comment on Porter’s posts. “The resurfaced comments could complicate the State Department’s messaging as it seeks to challenge Iran’s nuclear buildup, continue the fight against ISIS, and shape its response to the many ongoing national security threats posed by China, Russia, and the Islamic Republic” writes Free Beacon.
