During Tuesday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki revealed that Democrat President Joe Biden wants to use the pandemic to make a “fundamental change” to our economy.
“The president wants to make fundamental change in our economy, and he feels coming out of the pandemic is exactly the time to do that,” Psaki said. “And if we don’t do it now, if we don’t address the cost of childcare, to go back to Josh’s question earlier, if we don’t address the climate crisis, if we don’t ensure that universal pre-k is a reality now, we’re not going to have the same opportunity to do it for some time.
The news comes after the Department of Labor released the September jobs report, which was described by experts as the “worst of the year.”
“The economy created 194,000 jobs in September, the smallest gain since December 2020 and down from 366,000 jobs added in August,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Many workers gave up a job search and exited the labor force last month. The smaller pool of labor meant that despite the slowdown in hiring, the unemployment rate fell to 4.8% last month from 5.2% in August.”
A major driver of the terrible economic numbers has been President Biden’s push for vaccine mandates for large businesses, which Biden admitted has caused “mass firings.”
“Let’s be clear: When you see headlines and reports of mass firings, and hundreds of people losing their jobs, look at the bigger story,” Biden said.
“I’ve spoken with Scott Kirby, CEO of United Airlines, who’s here today. United went from 59% of their employees [vaccinated] to 99% of their employees in less than two months after implementing the requirement. 99%.”
