President Trump took a page out of his playbook from his “Apprentice” days and brought back his famous tagline: “you’re fired.” This time, the firings were for the good of the country and not a television competition show. Trump fired over 1,000 appointees from former President Joe Biden’s administration.
Among the top most recognizable names are celebrity chef Jose Andres and retired General Mark Milley. Issued in an “official notice of dismissal” Trump took to social media to fire four specific Biden appointees. Trump wrote on Truth Social:
‘“Our first day in the White House is not over yet! My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to Make America Great Again. Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon:
Hose Andres from the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, Mark Milley from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and Keisha Lance Bottoms from the President’s Export Council – YOU’RE FIRED!”
Milley was given a preemptive pardon by Biden just hours before leaving the White House, from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council. Milley, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has publicly called Trump a “wannabe dictator.”
The New York Post reports that the portrait of Milley was removed from the Pentagon soon after Trump’s inauguration on Monday. Andres, who founded the World Central Kitchen and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Biden, responded to Trump by saying on X that he’d already submitted his resignation last week. “My 2-year term was already up,” he wrote. “May God give you the wisdom, Mr. President, to put politics and name calling aside…and instead lift up the everyday people working to bring America together. Let’s build longer tables.”
Trump also ordered federal workers to return to the office five days a week.
